Clinton Carew (Actor 1)
Clinton performed in his first Edmonton Fringe Festival exactly 30 years ago, playing a mechanical (Snout) in a shortened version of A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Since then, he has had the good fortune to be involved in the Fringe movement in many different capacities. Some favourites include directing Trevor Devall and Marie Nychka in Meateater’s Waltz, designing Tara Brodin’s production of See Bob Run, revisiting Hamlet as a robot zombie apocalypse for Kid’s Fringe, and performing in November Theatre’s The Black Rider. He is the artistic director of Broken Toys and will be premiering his new musical, Star Killing Machine, this coming winter in the Arts Barns.
Michaela Demeo (Actress 2)
Michaela is from Vancouver Island and lived in the Comox Valley for 17 years. In a community so rich in art, she developed a passion for performing at a young age. She is currently enrolled at MacEwan University in the Theatre Arts program and is heading back to complete her diploma in the upcoming year. Past shows include Edges and The Bog of the Cats (MacEwan University) and Louise in Gypsy (Rainbow Youth Company). Stay spooky, Edmonton. .
Elena Porter (Actress 1)
Elena is super excited to be a part of Fringe this year. Previous fringe shows include: Tudor Queens: A Burlesque, GameFace, and It's A Bird, It's A Plane, It's Superman!. When not fringing, Elena has worked for companies around the province including the Citadel Theatre, Free Will Shakespeare, Stage West, Broken Toys Theatre & Catalyst Theatre. She is a graduate of both Grant MacEwan's Theatre Arts and the University of Alberta's BFA Acting programs.
Gabriel Gagnon (Actor 2)
Currently enrolled at Grant Macewan for the Theatre Arts program and going into the second year, Gab is excited to be part of this Fringe play with such great people. Gab was born in Quebec in 1996 and has lived in places as far-flung as British-Colombia and Paris, France before coming to Edmonton. His first time on stage was in a high school production of Beauty and the Beast portraying Lumiere. From then on he knew that theatre was something that he needed to pursue. Recent productions include the musicals Curtains and Edges at Macewan University.
Dave Horak (Director / Stage Manager/ Set Build)
Dave is an actor, director and theatre instructor and who has worked throughout Canada and the United States at such theatre companies as The Freewill Players, Workshop West Theatre), Theatre Yes, Vertigo Theatre, The Citadel Theatre, and The Mayfield. He has taught movement for actors at MacEwan University’s Theatre Arts Program since 2003 and has also directed many productions there such as Curtains, Attempts on her Life and Bacchae 2.1. Other directing credits include Burning Bluebeard (awarded five 2015 Sterling Awards and will return for Christmas 2016), Fatboy (awarded 3 Sterling Awards and recently re-mounted at Theatre Network), The Bomb-itty of Errors, Sartre’s Shorts (Surreal SoReal), and Eurydice (U of A Studio Theatre). Dave has worked with Anne Bogart and SITI Company over the past twelve years, is a member of The Actor’s Centre Society of Acting Teachers and The Association of Theatre Movement Educators and holds BFA (Acting) and MFA (Directing) degrees from the University of Alberta. Dave was also a participant in the 2015/16 Citadel/ Banff Centre Professional Training Program.
